Advent question for the day

We at EDN are in a period of reflection and contemplation for these important seasons of Advent and Christmas. Over the next few weeks, our attention will be on raising certain questions that we invite you to comment on.  We will return to our series probing controversial questions on January 4th.

John the Baptist is a perfect Advent voice as he prepared the way for the coming of the Lord.

TODAY’S QUESTION: How does the preaching of John the Baptist help you to prepare for Christmas, the coming of the Lord?

  1. Repent….I need to spend more time with God in confession of sins for the past year. I plan to better prepare my soul for the coming of the new year. We have power over sin, but still manage to sin as do all humans. In spending a greater amount of time with God, in His grace and mercy, He may strengthen my desire to be a purer person. Come Holy Spirit, come!

  2. Well, you have to get the weeds out before you can plant flowers! Weeding is repentance, and it’s not fun, but the flowers are worth it!
I think ofJohn the Baptist fulfilling Isaiah 40, and the first 11 verses describe the preparation for the entrance of the KING! So it is timely for the second coming and specifically refers to that. I recently memorized this passage. And I am singing Handel’s “Messiah” in my heart all the time! Come, Lord Jesus!
    Shabbat shalom tonight, friends!
